Imperial Eclipse was born in the ealy months of 2012. The original founders were Rick Mastry (Jahrik), Greg Griste, and Chip Harrelson. The band was formed simply out of the love for the reggae sound. All three grew up on reggae music and had aquired a real love for the authentic sound that came from Jamaica. Jahrik is the vocalist and with him comes the conscious lyrics for the songs. Rick had converted to Rastafari from the early 1990's and is well read and versed in the Rastafari principles which shows up in the lyrical content and the message of the songs. Greg Griste and Chip Harrelson are the core arrangement of the three with Jahrik contributing to the song structure with the arrangements around the lyrics and providing melodies and hooks. Chip Harrelson's bass lines and live performances are very well respected and known for his on point playing abilities and never missing a beat. Greg Griste provided the drum lines and guitar lines with heavy riffs of distortion and medatative dub skanks. Currently the band is supported on drums by Cliff Hackford whose background work goes back to the Jamaican greats such as Agustus Pablo, Pablo Moses, AK47, Marcia Griffiths, The Melodians, and Al Anderson just to name a few.
